She is survived by: her daughters, Jo-Anne Cushon (Ian), Molly Hochbaum and Susan Hochbaum; her grandchildren, Liam and Anna; her son-in-law Lawrence Levy; her adoptive daughter Korri Scott; and her former husband Albert Hochbaum.

“I first met Marlene in Kugaaruk, Nunavut when I went there to teach 25 years ago. Marlene was working there as a social worker and helped me and many others orient to the community. It wasn't long after that Marlene returned to Winnipeg and worked in the north on a contract basis. There were many occasions that I, and later Heather and I, would visit with Marlene before and after we went north. Those visits were invaluable for us. Marlene was a great friend to us; one that we will never forget.”
