He was predeceased by: his parents, Raphaël Lanoie and Gabrielle Lanoie; his parents-in-law, Andrew and Gisele Messner; his siblings-in-law, Gary Messner and Debbie Robert; and his niece Dawn-Marie Robert.

He is survived by: his wife Teresa (Messner); his children, Robert and Rachelle; his brother Roland; his in-laws, Mike Messner (Sue), Dan Messner (Kathleen), Eileen Jones (David), John Messner (Julie), Rebecca Schleicher (Bruce) and Don Robert (Claudette); and his godsons, Andrew Messner, Adam Jones and Nicolas Messner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
