He was predeceased by : his parents, Margaret and Marcel. He is survived by : his wife Genevieve; his daughter Yvette (Shaun); his grandchildren, Hailey and Connor; his daughter Danielle (Jay); his grandson Henry; and his siblings, Leoni, Claudette (Lionel) and Marcus (Sheila). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives.

“Claudette Cranenburgh, sister. Although we lived oceans apart, our spirits were connected.. Rene was our big brother, always there, in the background. He was wonderful, kind, caring, larger than life and full of the joy of living. He lived to make others happy and always stopped to wonder at the beauty in our world, which translated into the passion he had for his garden. He was a wonderful human. We will forever hold him in our hearts. Rest in Peace.”
