“Our deepest condolences to Norma & family. We worked with Dr Austin in the Post-Mortem Rm at the MB Vet Lab. We will always remember Dr Austin as being kind, respectful and usually cheerful. If Ron was having a bad day and was ill-tempered, he would drop by later and appoligize. This goodwill gesture meant a lot. In mailing a copy of Ron's obituary to friend & co-worker, Dr Tom Hutchison in Ontario today, I realized that we had not said how much we will miss Ron. Maureen Frolick & John Giardino”

“My heart goes to Ron's family, friends & loved ones. I happily worked with Dr Austin for several years at "The MB Vetlab". Ron was always kind, respectful, wise & joyfully shared his knowledge, ideas & experience. We often shared nice chats. Before he retired in 2003, he encouraged me to take up birding, pointing out the many splendid species that inhabit & frequent our area. Whenever I notice birds I often fondly remember Ron & will continue to do so forever. Warmest Regards, Andre Hamel”

“I know Ron from his career in veterinary pathology in which he was an exacting practitioner. If he had a diagnsis in the first 5 min that was not really relavent. The client had paid for a coplete autopsy and he never failed to deliver. He identified the first case of West Nile virus in domestic poultry in Canada. Austin, R J, et al. An outbreak of West Nile virus-associated disease in domestic geese... Can Vet J, 2004; 45(2), 117-123 A bird enthusiast in every way.”
