He is survived by: his children, John (Anita) and Sharon (Bill Riches); his grandchildren, Ryan (Natasha), James Motyer and Devon Riches; his niece Laurie MacCallum (Mike Furness); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Isla and Duncan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
