He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl McLean and Mable McLean (Levesque); his former life partner Mary McLean (Smith); his son Chad Baker Plenge; and his brother Winston "Winnie" McLean.

He is survived by : his wife Paulette "Penny" McLean (Kinney); his children, John Smith (Lori Wagner) of Cornwall, ON, Norma Perry (Clinton) of Caribou, ME, Janet McLean of Perth-Andover, NB and Sara McLean of Carlingford, NB; his stepchildren, Paulette Canam (Jay) of Holmesville, NB, Lorie Grant (Jeff) of Fredericton, NB and Corey DeMerchant (Michelle) of Beaconsfield, NB; his grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Clinton "CJ", Grace, Chloe, Liam, Destiny, Faith, Ashley, Amber, Dylan, Riley, Allison, Nick and Clarissa; and his sisters, Connie Chrustie of Perth-Andover, NB and Brenda Smalley (Charlie) of Greenfield, NB. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
