He was predeceased by: his father Faughn MacKenzie; and his brothers, Maurice, Wendell and Wayne. He is survived by: his mother Sybil MacKenzie; his wife Darlene; his sons, Lawrence (Joanna), Leslie (Charlotte) and Shawn (Jennifer); his grandsons, Spencer (Kate) and Hunter (Carol); his daughter Shelley; his granddaughters, Chelsey (Shae), Carly and Morgan (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Rylan, Kruz, Braxton and Brantley; his siblings, Marilyn McElhinney (Bobby), Gerald (Shirley), Clinton (Marilyn), Karl (Betty), Brian (Donna) and Leonard (Ellen); and his sisters-in-law, Anna, Villa and Peggy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
