He was predeceased by: his wife Jacquelyn (Gayton); his brothers, Charles "Chickie" Dowling (Irene) and Douglas Clinch (Ting); his brother-in-law Wolfie O'Brien; and his aunt Polly.

He is survived by: his children, John Dowling (Gwen) of St. Stephen, N. B., Bill Dowling (Martha) of St. Andrews, N. B. and Tammy Bedford (Doug) of St. Stephen, N. B.; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amanda, Laura, Raymond, Bill, Matthew, Kyle and Kelsey; and his sisters, Mary Ann O'Brien of Calais and Diana Green (Joey) of Grand Manan, N. B.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, many grand and great grand nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to Charlotte County Sports for Kids, through the Fundy Community Foundation.
