He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Smith and Mary Smith (Smyth); his spouse Essel Smith (Clouston); and his sister Evelyn Good (Charles). He is survived by: his children, Darlene Smith, Glenna Boucher (Denis), Floyd Smith (Marlene Legacy), Ellen Smith (Don MacGregor) and Ardith Smith (Bob Allain); his grandchildren, Courtney Jennings, Shawn Boucher (Meagan), Craig Boucher (Nicole), Raymond Smith (Megan Doucet), Allison Smith, Phillip Smith (Charline), Jessica Woodbury (Keith) and Sophia MacIntosh (Paul); his great grandchildren, Asher, Ada Boucher, Henry Alton Smith, Sadie Boucher, Jackson Woodbury and Ava MacIntosh; his sister Edna Jennings; and his siblings-in-law, Hughie Clouston (Edith), Murray Clouston (late Edna) and Ruth Clouston (late Hazen).
