With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Grant John Smith (Bathurst, New Brunswick), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 16, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Mervin John Smith; his wife Mildred Smith (Milly); his son Bruce Smith; his sister Doris Coombs; and his friend Betty Garrett.
He is survived by: his children, Carl Smith (Glenda), Helen Groslouis (Robert), Kenneth Smith (Shirley) and Kelly Branch (Barry); his daughter-in-law Donna Smith; his siblings, Jane Jagoe (Kerry), Heather McGuire and Robert Smith (Grace); his grandchildren, Robin Wiseman (Sean), Randi McIntyre (Mike), Leslie Smith, Devin Smith (Danika), Brent Smith (Courtney), Cody Smith (Gillian), Jody Smith (Jason), Jamie McNealy (Keegan), Brandon Branch (Sonia) and Connor Branch; and his great grandchildren, Brynn, Shea, Avery, Rylie, Peyton, Lane, Savanah, Azlyn, Wren, Barrett, Bryson, Nolan, Jaxon and Kate.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Elhatton Funeral Home (187 St George St, Bathurst, NB E2A1B6). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the First United Church (309 St Patrick St, Bathurst, NB E2A1E2).
Donations in his memory may be made to the Herman J. Good, VC Branch #18 of the Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of choice.
