She was predeceased by: her parents, John Allison Whitney and Theresa Elizabeth Whitney (McLean); her son Arthur John Gilks; and her siblings, John Reid Whitney, Burnley Whitney and Mary Theresa Russell.
She is survived by: her children, Ferne Hamilton, Wendy McPeake (John), Ralph Jr. Gilks and Stacy Gilks; and her brothers, James Whitney (Audrey) and Charles Whitney. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
