He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas W. Gilbert and Beatrice "Betty" F. Gilbert (McCaffrey). He is survived by: his wife Gisele Gilbert (Hudon); his children, Nina McCarthy (John) and Joseph Gilbert (Jessica); his grandchildren, Abbie McCarthy, Mercedes and Mckenzie Gilbert; and his siblings, Cathy Bettle (Ken), George Gilbert (late Debbie), Greg Gilbert (Lynda), Malcolm Gilbert (Melisa), Eleanor Lindsay (Ted), Gerard Gilbert (Sharon), Tony Gilbert (Monica), Mary Cozzarini (Elio), Patricia Russell (Harold), Charles Gilbert (Prema), Anne Gilbert (Blaine) and Susan Bouwer (Neil). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
