He was predeceased by: his parents, Lionel Viel and Phyllis Viel (Shannon); his sister Michelle Viel; and his brother-in-law Claude Doherty. He is survived by: his wife Pam; his children, Dawn Marie Murray (Blair) and Rick Mehlenbacher (Lyndsay); his grandchildren, Cohen and Ryat; and his siblings, Jerry Viel, Vera Doherty, Carole Viel, Rosemany McCready (Francis), Leo Viel, Anita Viel, Sharon Thompson (Andrew), David Viel (Betty Ann), Marty Viel (Debbie) and Michael Viel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 21st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Florenceville Legion.
