He was predeceased by: his parents, James Alexander Grant (Sandy) and Beatrice Mable Brown; and his siblings, Kenneth (Dorthy), Anna Louise Grant, Catherine (Cassie), Knowles (Tom), Vaughn (Ena), Claudine Kane (Howard), Charles (Eleanor), Preston (Ruth), Elva Hayward (Maurice), Eleanor (Ross) and Pickard (Harold).

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Anne; his children, Malcolm Alexander Grant (Beth), Elizabeth (Anne), Simpson (John) and Catherine Kitaura (Elaine); his grandchildren, Cassie, Kyle, Amanda, Courtney, Heather and Lumina; and his great grandchildren, Lachlan, Lydia and Benjamin Ronnie.
