He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert "Abby" Atkins and Ada Harriet Atkins (Meuse); his son Bruce; his siblings, Marion Murphy and Colin; and his daughter-in-law Juanita.

He is survived by : his wife Joyce Atkins (Deveau) of Fredericton; his son Alan (Tiffany Russell); his grandson Matthew (Ji); his great grandchildren, Jenna and Ara; and his daughter-in-law Alma.
