He was predeceased by: his parent William McLaughlin; his siblings, Joseph, Donald, Mary and Jean; and also Mona McLaughlin.

He is survived by: his parent Elizabeth McLaughlin; his sons, Paul McLaughlin (Dawn) and Edward James McLaughlin (Valerie); and his grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Katie and Victoria. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
