With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Marie Thomas (Fredericton, New Brunswick), born in Millerton, New Brunswick, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 7, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Richard L. W. Thomas; her daughter Susan Chabot; and her parents, Randolph Vanderbeck and Anna Vanderbeck. She is survived by: her siblings, Burton Vanderbeck (late Alice Vanderbeck) and Eleanor Mollegaard (Leif); her children, Bradley Thomas (Shelly Monroe) and Sandra Demerchant (late Peter Demerchant); her grandchildren, Blake Thomas Archibald (Nadia), Bailey Demerchant, Victor and Jeremy Chabot; and her siblings' children, Peggy Couglan (Steven), Leslie Vanderbeck (Kathy), James Vanderbeck (Sheryl) and Scott Vanderbeck (Ciara).
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the York Funeral Home (302 Brookside Dr, Fredericton, NB E3A 5K2).
Donations may be made to the Fredericton Hospice House, Nashwaaksis United Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
