He was predeceased by: his wife Rosalee "Rose" Stairs (Harris); his parents, Sterling Stairs and Verna Stairs (Pike); his brothers, Wendell Stairs and Merlin Stairs; and his siblings-in-law, Harriet Stairs, Vernon Corey and Neil McVicar.
He is survived by: his daughter Lindsey Briggs; his sisters, Stella Corey, Jean McVicar and Carole Drost (Ivan); and his sister-in-law LaVerne Seveck (Ron). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nashwaaksis Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
