He was predeceased by: his parents, Myles McCarthy and Adelia McCarthy (Dixon); his brother Wayne McCarthy; and his brothers-in-law, Merton Morrell and Wayne Clews.

He is survived by: his siblings, Ethel Morrell of Morrell Siding, Mildred Demmings (Clinton) of Aroostook, Francis McCarthy (Kathleen) of Perth, Alonzo McCarthy (Jeannelle) of St. Leonard, Marolyn Clews of Truro, NS, Carolyn McCarthy of Four Falls, Terrance McCarthy of Grand Falls, Roland McCarthy (Carol) of Grand Falls and Patricia Sorensen (Richard) of Grand Falls; and his sister-in-law Lisa McCarthy of Grand Falls. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
