He was predeceased by: his wife Edie Colson (Batt); his parents, Helen Colson and Lewis Colson; his sister Rebecca Sandel; Judy Colson.

He is survived by: his daughter Amy Colson; his stepchildren, Adam Rushton and Heather Manuel; and his sister Judith Ganton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
