He was predeceased by : his parents, Mary Isabelle Greene (Laffoley) and Reid Benson; his step-father Ralph Greene; his grandson Ben Benson; and his siblings, Irene Linton and Meldon Greene.

He is survived by : his wife Esther Benson (Bagley) of Deep Cove; his children, Allen Benson (Bonnie) of Saint John, NB, Pam Churchill (Stan) of Sanford, NS, Sue Hunter (Roger) of Mispec, NB, Tony Benson (Debbie) of Sussex, NB, Jeff Benson (Marcia) of Grand Harbour, Zane Benson (Janet) of Seal Cove and Roger Guptill (Faye) of Castalia; his grandchildren, Teena Brown, Bucky Zwicker, Apryl Brown, Kurt Zwicker, Bernadette Benson, Scott Benson, Nathan Benson, Andrew Benson, Joy Benson, David Benson, Charity Wark, Katy King, Jessi Churchill, Jordan Benson, Josh Benson, Adam Guptill and Courtney Guptill; and his sisters, Sylvia Yorke, Melba Anderson (Philip), Brenda Smith (Kim) and Marion Tomlinson (David). He is also survived by 30 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 10th 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Immanuel Family Church (749 Rte 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G3C4). Mask are mandatory, distancing is respected.
