Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Violet Maude Blakney (Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick), who passed away at the age of 92, on May 17, 2026. She was predeceased by: her parents, Aubrey Smith and Jean Smith (Crossman); her former husband Laurence "Larry" Steeves; her husband Edward "Ned" Blakney; her daughter Patricia "Patsy" Steeves; and her siblings, Bernadine McLean and Leroy Smith.
She is survived by: her daughter Karen R. Steeves of Moncton; her son-in-law Geoffrey Steeves of Fredericton; her granddaughters, Katelyn (Tyson) and Natalie (Richard); her great grandchildren, Grace, Micah and Liam; and her sister Mary Hogan of Riverview. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 23rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Albert County Funeral Home (4130 NB-114, Hopewell Cape, NB E4H).
For those who wish, donations in Violet's memory may be made to Green Hill Cemetery or Surrey Valley Baptist Church, and would be appreciated by the family.
