He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Smearer (Adams) and Allie Smearer; and his wife Pat (Sutherland). He is survived by: his sisters, Lynn Roy (Alan Ketteringham), Rhoda Flynn (Mike) and Heather Grant (Dave Andrew); and his pet Tundra. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
