He was predeceased by: his parents, Bram McDonald and Hilda McDonald (Ackerman); and his siblings, Nancy, Marlene and Doug.

He is survived by: his wife Carol McDonald; his son Brian McDonald; his granddaughter Samantha Blake; his great grandchildren, Chevy and Peter; and his siblings, Karen, Debbie, Audrey, Dorothy and Hayward. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
