He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Johnston and Margaret Belle Johnston (Mullin); his wife Patricia "Patsy" Johnston (Walsh) of Mary's Roman Catholic Church; and his sister Mona Christina. He is survived by: his children, Shannon Johnston of Miramichi, Patricia "Patty" Lago (Ivano) of Guelph, ON, Tony Johnston of Miramichi and Samuel Johnston (Sharon) of Miramichi; his sister Margaret Ann Richer (Denis) of Montreal, QC; his grandchildren, Amanda Lago, Sophia Lago, Shane Johnston and Hannah Johnston (Jordan Buggie); his great grandchildren, Willow and Lilly; and his nephews, Keagan and Brennan Richer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Northumberland Funeral Home (102 Pleasant St, Miramichi, NB E1V1X7). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church (360 Newcastle Blvd, Miramichi, NB E1V2J9).
