He was predeceased by : his wife Nina Nowlan (Johnston); his parents, Lorne Nowlan and Ethel Nowlan (MacKay); his brothers, Billy and Edward; his son-in-law Garth Smith; and his great grandchild Landon Somers.

He is survived by : his children, Kyle Nowlan (Sharon) of Iqaluit, NU, Keith Somers (Corina) of Chatham, NB and Penny Smith of Chatham, NB; his siblings, Doris Brown of Moncton, NB, Linda McAllister (Kenny) of Grand Lake, NB and Laurie Nowlan of Miramichi, NB; and his grandchildren, Derek, Lisa, Kandise, Joey, Holly, Cody, Kayla, Nicole and Cassandra. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In Ossie's memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
