He was predeceased by: his parents, Megan Bannister (Legg) and Leonard Bannister; and his siblings, David, Catherine-Ann, Bobby and Gary.

He is survived by: his wife Catherine; his children, Tania and Douglas; his sister Sharon Ann Bannister; his brother-in-law Brian Finck; and his grandsons, Jake and Reece. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or Hospice SENB. The family has chosen to send donations to All Funds.
