He was predeceased by: his parents, Winford Thurber and Jean Thurber; his wife Shirley (Matchett); his stepson Blaine; his grandsons, Adam Thurber and Jason Matchett; and his siblings, Junior, Cecil, John, Margaret, Eleanor, Ruth, Francis and Beverly.

He is survived by: his sons, Randy (Carolyn) and Bill Jr. (Heather); his grandchildren, Josh Matchett, Robert, Andrew Thurber, Jennifer Burry (Chris) and Sara Keirstead (Chris); his great grandchildren, Clara, Chloe Keirstead and Beau Burry; his daughter-in-law Rose Matchett; and his sister June LeBlanc.
