He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Gilliss and Jennie Gilliss (MacInnis); his wife Anita Gilliss (Parks); his children, Nancy Melvin (Gillis) and Donnie Gillis; his granddaughters, Sara and Samantha MacDonald; and his siblings, Ruth Starsja (late Roger), Velna Mills (late Lloyd), Laura Watling (late Walter) and Brydon.
He is survived by: his children, Darlene MacDonald (Darrell) of Napan Bay, Penny Hebert (Rejean) of Pointe-Sapin, Patty Taylor (Tim) of Napan, Sandra Berscheid (Jim) of Lincoln, John Gillis (Brenda) of Napan and Kirk Gillis (Tanya) of Napan; his son-in-law Ron Melvin of Napan; and his siblings, Helen MacDiarmid (late John) of Napan, Bea Leslie (late David) of Miramichi, Diana Tucker (late Ellery) of Fredericton and Archie Gilliss (Elwanda) of Fredericton. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Adams Funeral Home (140 King St, Miramichi, NB E1N2N9). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Carmel United Church (795 S Napan Rd, Napan, NB E1N4W4).
