He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Saunders and Ida Saunders (Daye); his son Wetzel Saunders; his siblings, Marion Gagnon, Donna Thibodeau, Clarence "Bud" Saunders and Charles "Butch" Saunders; and his grandchildren, Michael and Sheana Verret.

He is survived by : his wife Violet Saunders (Arsenault); his children, Brenda Verret (James) of Courtney, BC, Kathryn Demarsh (John) of Plaster Rock, NB, Suzanne Saunders (Matthew Ward) of Barrie, ON, Clarence Saunders of Aurora, ON and Arnold Saunders of Cambridge, ON; and his sister Nancy Geneau of Plaster Rock, NB. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
