He was predeceased by: his parents, Gardiner Hudson "Tompy" and Bessie Phyllis "Shooks" MacKay (Hovey); his siblings-in-law, Marie MacKay, Barry Van Stone and Wallace O'Donnell; his brother Glenny; his nephew Timmy MacKay; and the mother of his children Joan MacKay (McCann).
He is survived by: his close friend Isabel Lougheed; his daughters, Kimberly MacKay and Janet MacKay; his grandsons, Tyler Munn (Geny) and Liam Van Stone; his great grandchildren, Oliver of Fredericton, NB and Declan Tsang Munn of Fredericton, NB; and his sisters, Phyllis "Sis" Van Stone, Louise O'Donnell and Helen Wilby (Ed).
