He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Sweet and Esther Sweet (Crosby); and his siblings, Millie Ashe, Nancy Smith, Edith Winchester, Ann Shirley Bent, Mary McAndrew, Betty Mills, Bob and Edward Sweet.

He is survived by : his wife Joan Sweet (Raynes); his children, Troy (Sabrina) and Stacey Sweet (Bill); his sisters, Sharon Burke (Larry), Barbara Edison and Beatrice Ellsworth; and his grandchildren, Casey and Oliver Sweet. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Donations made in memory of John may be given to SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society (Leukemia).
