He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth McIllwraith (Kyle); his parents, William McIllwraith and Florence McIllwraith (Arsenault); his sons, Robbie Jr. and Joseph; his siblings, Stuart, William, Eric, Albert, Gordon, Johnny, Ronald, Doreen, Patricia and Betty; and his children-in-law, Sandra McIllwraith and Tim Hampton.

He is survived by: his children, Stuart of Quispamsis, Keith (Brenda) of Quispamsis, Wanda McIllwraith of Quispamsis and Christa McIllwraith of Quispamsis; and his sister Helen MacDonald. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews.
