He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilson Cortes and Ruby Cortes-Matchett (Pleadwell); his former life partner Gloria Cortes (Larsen); his siblings, Marjorie Hambrook (Edison), Elsie Simpson (James "Bud"), Roy (Betty) and Vera; and his grandson-in-law Matthew Augustine.

He is survived by : his wife Catherine White-Cortes of Derby, NB; his children, Robert "Bobby" (Lauris) of Parker Road, NB and Peggy of Miramichi, NB; his close friend Ginger; his grandchildren, Melanie Brophy (Andy), Danny Cortes (Lydia), Meredith Augustine (Bryce Sturgeon) and Kerri-Ann Turnbull (Jason Kelly); and his great grandchildren, Pierce, Graham Brophy, Gabrielle, Victoria Cortes, Gia, Jaida Augustine and Emma Kelly. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family you are asked to please wear a mask for visitation and funeral service.
