He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Mitton and Hazel Bembridge (Sue); his wife Ruth (Coombs); his daughter Kenda Paterson; his brother Lorne; and his siblings-in-law, Eyrol Sears, Edgar Estabrooks, Ed Cunningham, Ray LeBlanc, Audrey LeBlanc, Amy Cunningham and Ellen Monkman.

He is survived by: his son-in-law Dale Paterson; his granddaughters, Rayelle and Kali Paterson; his siblings, Angie Sears, Daryll (Ann), Rod (Dori) and Gary; and his siblings-in-law, Lynn Mitton (late Lorne), Norma Estabrooks (late Edgar), Cedric Coombs (Ted) and David Monkman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family.
