He was predeceased by: his father William Smith; his wife Geraldine Smith (Weeds); and his siblings, William, Constance, Dorothy, Ruby, Elizabeth, Madeline and Phyllis.

He is survived by: his sons, Kevin (Louise) of Mississauga and Gregory (Kim) of Greenville; his grandson Peter (Lesley) of Toronto; his sister Irene Barrett of Debert; and his siblings-in-law, Don Smith of Moncton and Mildred Kelly of Saint John.
