He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Arthur and Helen Mary McKinney (Machum). He is survived by: his children, Darlene McKinney of Saint John and Dallas McKinney (Rebecca) of Lower Greenwich; his grandchildren, Connor McKinney, Jessie McKinney, Brittany McKinney, Isaiah McKinney and Josiah McKinney; his stepgrandchildren, Carissa Bishop, Stephen Bishop (Shannon), Hannah Bishop and Mark Bishop; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Bodhi and Kaius Birch.
