He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertram Maxwell and Jessie Maxwell (Wagg). He is survived by: his significant other Barbara Maxwell (Spears); his children, Andrew Maxwell (Sarah), Shawn Spears (Annette Banks), Randy Spears, Lisa Ann Ratcliffe (Stephen) and Rick Spears (Min); his brother Lawrence Maxwell (Louise); his grandchildren, Selah, Brooke, Desiree, Douglas, David, Elizabeth, Mya, Nick, Patrick, Victoria, Madison and MacKenzie; and his niece Wendy. He is also survived by several nephews and many cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Castle Fallsview Funeral Home (309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M2L3). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Castle "fallsview" Chapel (309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M2L3). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Ocean View Memorial Gardens (715 Latimore Lake Rd, Saint John, NB E2N1X8).
In lieu of flowers donations in Doug's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Lung Association, Portland United Church, Westfield United Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
