He was predeceased by: his parents, Rafael Albornoz and Clemencia Ordonez; and his brother Efren. He is survived by: his wife Yolanda Albornoz (Mancero); his children, Rafael of Saint John, Dora Carrasco of London, ON and Yvonne Albornoz (Peter Perry) of Saint John; his grandchildren, Alexis, Samantha and Nicholas; and his siblings, Lusmila, Sara, Gladys and Rodrigo. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations in Rafael's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Palliative Care, Saint John Regional Hospital.
