He was predeceased by: his parents, George Matheson and Myrtle Matheson (Kinney); his former wife Elizabeth Matheson; and his siblings, Kenneth Matheson, William Matheson, James Matheson, Bernice Thompson, Joan Taylor and Jean Campbell.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Fleet; his children, Cindy Kallar (Bob), Trudy Borthwick (John) and Scott Matheson (Lisa) of Alberta; and his stepchildren, Kevin Fleet (Kim) of Ontario, Timothy Fleet and Jamie Fleet. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. George & Area Food Bank would be greatly appreciated by the family.
