We are sad to announce that on September 11, 2023, Aldérice Richard (Shediac, New Brunswick), born in Saint-Antoine, New Brunswick passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Émile and Irène (Léger); his children, Monette (Vance Morgan) and Janelle; and his brother Guy.

He is survived by: his wife Géraldine Després; his sons, Charles (Lucie Leger), Norm (Donna Cormier) and Marc; his grandchildren, Christien (Christina), Joël (Krista), Veronique, Jérémie (Adeana), Gabriel (Maxime) and Raphaël; his great grandchildren, Céleste, Julianne, Leo, Kye and Hugo; and his siblings, Lucille, Fernande, Dorine, Simonne, Murielle, Gemma, Paul-Émile, Donald and Ulysse. He is also survived by many nieces and, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Alzheimer Society (Lewy Body Dementia) would be appreciated.

“I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Geraldine, Charles, Monette, Marc, Norm, and all of the Richard family. I am very sorry for your great loss. When I heard that Aldérice has passed away, I had a very similar feeling that I had when my own father passed. It was a feeling of great sadness, but was accompanied by scenes of all the joyous times that I spent in his company. He was a wonderful person with whom I enjoyed spending time.”

“I met Aldérice in the summer of 1992 when I was in the area taking summer classes in Moncton. I met him through Charles, whom I met by chance through a classmate. The hospitality extended to me from he and his family has been unmatched to this day. I truly enjoyed my stay and continued to keep up with them and visit over the subsequent years. Even though there is a great distance between Shediac and Louisiana, I did manage to get up there several times through the years (even on my honeymoon).”

“I will never forget the times that I spent with him or the conversations that we had. I have mentioned him in conversations many times over the years referring to him as one of the smartest men that I have ever met. We shared many meals, gumbos, beers, and good times together when we had the opportunity. Needless to say, It was great. I will especially miss the times that we played music together as he plucked his homemade “washtub” bass or his customized “washboard”. Rest in peace my friend.”
