He was predeceased by: his parent Arthur McCarthy; his daughter Geralyn; his stepson Michael; and his sister Karen. He is survived by: his parent Althea McCarthy; his children, Sandy, Trinda, Arthur (Nadia), Curtis, Valerie Powell Leigh (Nelson) and Anne; his son-in-law Mark Manser; his siblings, John (Karen), Keith, Kevin (Darlene), Maxine Schirmer (Ziggy), Mary (Barry Brandt), Myra Ploom (Walter) and Joyce Cook (Gary); his grandchildren, Ashley, Chris, Jessica, Kyle, Mary, Arthur, Gerard, Samantha, Jakob, Julien, Charlotte, Meghan, Madeline, Dakari, Presley, Arden, Copeland and Millar; and his great grandchildren, Kaydence and Sebastian. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
