He was predeceased by : his parents, Harold McGuire and Nora McGuire (Kilfoil); his former life partner Ginette McGuire (Caissie); and his brothers, Herbie McGuire (Betty) and John McGuire.

He is survived by : his wife Emily Anne Clark; his stepdaughter Marta Dingle (Brad Walton); his stepgrandchildren, Raegan, Nolan and Nelson; his stepson Benedict Dingle (Jaemin Kim); his stepgrandchild Eden; his stepson Jeffrey Dingle (Torey Urquart); his son Shawn McGuire (Susannah); his granddaughters, Flora and Martha; his son Trevor McGuire (Heidi Hamilton); his grandchildren, Gabriel and Willow-Grace Rideout; and his sister-in-law Gail McGuire.

Jeff Hazlett wrote a sympathy message

“To Joe's family, I just heard about this a few mins ago. I remember Mr McGuire quite well in my years of HS in Woodstock in the mid-80s. He's a fine man and teacher to all of us, very respectful. I hadn't seen Joe for years and then one day I spotted Joe walking the indoor track in the local gym of Woodstock, so I welcomed myself to partake with him. Joe's eyes sparkled when I asked about his family. You could hear the pride he has for his adult children. My sincere condolences. RIP Joe.”
