Eric Boyne Mercer Obituary

Passed peacefully away on July 26, 2023, Eric Boyne Mercer at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, Botwood. He was 91 years of age. Mr. Mercer retired from his work Abitibi Price in Botwood. He was predeceased by his parents Russell and Ethel Mercer; sisters Kathleen Roberts and Viola Dean; parents-in law Eleazer and Minnie Saunders. Eric worked in wood camps, travelled the world on many different ships during his younger years as a sailor. He loved, picking berries, playing and watching baseball. Toronto Blue Jays were his favorite team but he also enjoyed his Toronto Maple Leafs. Eric was a avid trapper and hunter. He loved being in the woods, whether hunting, fishing or cutting logs. Eric loved his children and grandkids visits and was a gentle man who never raised his voice, but when the kids would act up he would always say "you wait til your mother comes home". He was very protective of his children. He leaves to mourn his wife Alice (Toots) Mercer; sons David (Patricia) Mercer, Boyne and Greg Mercer; daughters Debbie (Reginald) Campbell, Pauline Mercer, Marlene (Jeff) Sangster, Coreen (Myra) Mercer; sisters Hazel Young, Margaret (Cyril) Brent; brothers Bert (Edna) Mercer, Fred (Marilyn) Mercer, Terry (Kathy) Mercer; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. We love you to the moon and back!! Pallbearers will be David Mercer, Gregory Mercer, Reginald Campbell, Terry Mercer, Jerry Dean and Terry Hart.
