He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Christina; his children, Douglas (Jane) of Pasadena, Ernest Jr. (Eileen) of Pittsburgh, Rhonda Friisdahl (Flemming) and Donna Hanrahan (Brian) of Clarenville; his grandchildren, David (Beth), Nathan, Mark, Adam, Brooke (Fletcher), John, Annie, Marisa (Amit), Natalie, Kristy, Morgan (Brandon) and Evan (Shauna); his great grandchildren, Kara and Hudson; and his siblings, Lillian Seymour, Barbara Large (Doug) and Douglas Stanley (Kathy).

Due to Covid 19 only a walk through visitation is allowed.

Donations in Ernest's memory may be made to Burin SPCA.
