He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Butt and Nellie V. Butt; his brother Wallace Butt; his brother-in-law Calvin Chaulk; and his niece Melanie McLeod.

He is survived by: his siblings, Lorraine Chaulk, Yvonne Pelley (Charles), Harold Butt (Nina) and Douglas Butt (Yvonne); and his nieces and nephews, Bruce Chaulk (Elaine), Stephen Butt (Michelle), David Butt (Suzanne), Andrew Pelley (Maya), Michelle Newby (Brian), Christina Butt-Osmond (Shawn), Heather Kelly (Cory), Jennifer Pelley (Neil Robitaille), Susan Randell (Glenn) and Karen Grépin (Leo).
