He was predeceased by: his wife Beatrice; his parents, Thomas Oates and Winnifred "Molly" Oates; his siblings, Sybil Wright, Thomas, Edison "Ted', Arthur, Bill and Derek; his nephews, Edison, Campbell, Darrell, Trent and Travis; and his parents-in-law, Frederick and Margaret Northcott.
He is survived by: his children, Tracy, Tina (John Swire), Warren and Wynette (Robert Clarke); his granddaughters, Sara (Shane) and Caroline; his siblings, Melvin, Joyce Crowley and Vicki Thorne; and his nephew Ian Oates.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 26th 2024 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, on Tuesday, August 27th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 28th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Noel's Funeral Home (106 Water St, Carbonear, NL A1Y1A9). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 28th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Bethany United Church (2 Church St, Carbonear, NL A1Y1A9).
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Carbonear Fire Department (Pumper 52 Maintenance Project).
