Gary Silliker wrote a sympathy message

“I remember Gary as the fellow who welcomed me to Newfoundland when I was posted to CFS St John's in 1993. He enhanced my knowledge of Newfoundland and we shared many memorable tunes together. Gary also introduced me to his family out around the bay , where I quickly learned that his aunts and uncles were now to be addressed, by me, as "aunt" and "uncle" as he considered me as 'adopted.' I shall cherish his kindness to me and my family . Remembering happier times.”

Larry Foreman wrote a sympathy message

“My sincere condolences and prayers goes out to Gary’s family and friends on his passing. I had the pleasure to serve with him in the Canadian Armed Forces. in the 90s. We were both Logistics Officer who completed some specialty training and managed to be both posted to Kingston, Ontario at the same time. He was well known for his pulling out his guitar and singing all kinds of music, notably Newfoundland home grown music at the pubs in Kingston. Rest In Peace my friend. Larry Foreman”
