It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Velma Jean Brinson of Change Islands, Newfoundland, who passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Wilson; her parents, George Powell and Blanche Powell (Marita); her brother George Powell; and her brother-in-law Raymond Heath.
She is survived by: her children, Everett (Cynthia), Ellen and Evan (Tiffany); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brandon), Reannah (Ben), Isaiah (Grace), Noah (Emma), Wilson, Rose, Jordan (Morgan), Zachary, Aaron (Megan) and Rachael (Josh); her great grandchild Adeline; her siblings, Phyllis, Francis (Maxine) and Dave (Georgina); and her sister-in-law Janie. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to Anglican Church, Change Islands will be gratefully accepted.
