He was predeceased by: his parents, Solomon Short and Harriet Short (Carter); his siblings, Elizabeth Janes-Wall (Albert), Selena Wall (Emanuel), Rebecca Osmond (Clifford), Frances Osmond (Roy), Isaac (Bride), George (Ada), James (Dulcie), Emanuel and Theodore; and his sister-in-law Annie Short (Rita White).
He is survived by: his brother Cecil Short; his nephew Rev. Deacon Vernon Short (Maisie); and his sister-in-law Bessie Short. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, extended family members, friends.
No flowers by request, donations in Ernest's memory can be made to the St. John The Evangelist Roofing Fund.
